American Industrial Hygiene Association
The California Industrial Hygiene Council was founded in 1990 to establish a legislative presence in the California State Capitol for the industrial hygiene profession. It is supported by the local sections of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) within California. The local sections consist of Northern CA, Orange County, Sacramento, San Diego, and Southern CA.

It is designated as the AIHA State Governmental Affairs Organization in California. There are ten official board members, made up of two to three volunteering directors from each AIHA local section. CIHC contracts with the firm Sacramento Advocacy to provide legislative representation. The board members reviews and monitors legislation which may impact the profession of industrial hygiene.

American Industrial Hygiene Association
Founded in 1939, AIHA is a nonprofit organization with more than 75 local sections. AIHA's 12,000 members are highly educated professionals; 96 percent are college graduates, 61 percent hold master's degrees, and 6 percent possess doctoral degrees.

AIHA is one of the largest international associations serving the needs of occupational and environmental health professionals practicing industrial hygiene in industry, government, labor, academic institutions, and independent organizations.
