The California Industrial Hygiene Council was founded in 1990 to establish a legislative presence in the California State Capitol for the industrial hygiene profession. It is supported by the local sections of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) within California.
The local sections consist of Northern CA, Orange County, Sacramento Valley, San Diego, and Southern CA. CIHC is designated as the AIHA State Governmental Affairs Organization in California. There are 15 official board members, made up of three volunteer directors from each California local section. The board members review, monitor and comment on legislation which may impact the profession of industrial hygiene and OEHS in general, and proactively participate with regulatory actions that can impact the profession as well.
